Yes! Fresh, delicious, beautiful turnip greens were at the Market this past Saturday and will be there again next Saturday along with mustard greens and perhaps some other wonderful fresh produce. There may be some late season tomatoes. The Breedlove produce wagon maintains that there may be enough to bring some to the Market. Keep your fingers crossed.

Again the weather was amazingly pleasant. Those turnips left the market in great big bunches. The Carpenters were back with their seasonal and all season yard ornaments and occasional tables. The Crawford County Counseling Center was selling hot dogs and hamburgers with all the trimmings. Arts and crafts, homemade baked goods, homemade canned goods, lovely seasonal decorations, clever gift ideas and useful items were to be had at the Market.

The Crawford County High School and Middle School Band performance was moved to October the 17th. So be sure and mark that day on your calendar. I have not been told if and when the old book sale will present itself, but we are hoping that will happen soon. It is a wonderful opportunity to get some great books and a fraction of their original cost and also to support our local library. I will try to keep you posted on that event.

October 24th will be our old fashioned political rally. We will be inviting anyone running for office in the area to come out and set up a booth to meet and greet. There will be hand shaking, baby kissing and pontificating galore! What fun! And what a great way to find out what each candidate has to offer. An informed citizen can be a powerful citizen.

October 31st promises to be a fun day at the Market. We will be asking all vendors to dress up in non-scary costumes and to bring individually wrapped candy to offer any trick or treaters that should come. We are hoping that many moms will bring their little trick or treaters to the Market to enjoy the day instead of going out that night when things tend to be more dangerous. We old folks don't want to be frightened so no scary costumes, please! We are planning special attractions for the little ones, as well.

Plan to visit the Market every Saturday. There are always new vendors bringing their wares, so there is always something new to see and to buy. The Market provides a fun, pleasant, old time meeting place for all to come out and enjoy the fall weather, see old friends and make new ones. The Roberta-Crawford County Chamber of Commerce and the Crawford County Historical Society invite you to come on out the the Market. We will be looking for you!
For more information contact Robin Dunaway 478 957 1209 or crawfordmarket@ymail.com.
Robin Dunaway

Market update from Robin

As I'm sure most of you have heard, a 7th grader at CCMS, Austin Sellers, passed away Wednesday night. His funeral has been scheduled for 11am on Saturday morning. Please bring your old photos for us to computer copy and add to the county's historical records. You don't have to leave your pictures. We'll copy them and hand them right back to you. We're looking for buildings, events, geographical features, work projects, cars and trains, animals and, of course, people. Pictures taken inside Roberta will become part a special exhibit during next year's centennial celebration. Your stories and descriptions of the photos are important, too. Please write down what you know about the photos or let us get the information from you the day you bring the photos in.
All of our history is not in dates and recorded facts. We need to record the stories of families, individuals and places in the county. Please help us make sure our stories and those of our ancestors is not lost.
For more information, email monaplowe@yahoo.com.

NEED A CAR?

The Roberta-Crawford County Chamber of Commerce is selling raffle tickets for a drawing to give awayt a 1997 Buick LeSabre donated by Roberta Auto Sales.
